We aim to keep this site as independent and uncluttered as possible, and have resisted the temptation to accept sponsorship or to run advertisements. However, this does leave a black-hole in our finances and we are grateful for any donation, however large or small, to help with our running costs, aims and ambitions.
To highlight how your donation will be used, please see the examples below:
1. Educational materials We have produced several booklets that aim to educate readers of all age groups about the free-living wild boar in Britain. We aim to distribute copies of these books to all primary and secondary schools in areas with free-living wild boar.
‘Thank you for the booklet about the wild boar. It will have pride of place in the school’s library – once we can get it back from the teachers!’
2. Transport costs The organisations landrover, for example, was recently used to rehouse a blind wild boar from a farm in Cheshire to an establishment in the Forest of Dean. The wild boar, aptly named Stevie Wonder, is enjoying his new role in life as an 'educator'. It is true that we fear what we don’t know, and the more people learn about wild boar, and perhaps overcome pre-set prejudices, ultimately a more informed judgement about managing the species can be made, based on fact and not ignorance.
‘A blind wild boar called Stevie Wonder is to help educate the public about the controversial creatures. The two-year-old male boar will meet and greet schoolchildren as part of lectures about the beasts - "We want to show people that there is nothing for people to be frightened of and that if they are managed in the right way they are a tourist attraction in the Forest that is second to none".’
3. Woodland reserve An important ambition of ours is to purchase a woodland in an area of free-living wild boar. In such a woodland, hides will be set up and wild boar watches organised to enable people to view these fascinating animals in their natural environent. Donations are particularly welcome to help us achieve that aim. The reserve will also help safeguard the wild boar from the unwelcome fact of becoming exinct in Britain for a second time.
4. Website hosting costs for the website and IT advise are all funded through donations
Please help us to keep improving the website, to achieve our aim of reporting factually on all the issues surrounding Britain's returning wild boar population, both the good and bad.
To those who have donated already, we can't thank you enough!
