Because wild boar are difficult to see in their natural environment due to their nocturnal nature, shyness and fear of man (i.e. fear of being next Sundays' lunch), we have added a list of Wildlife Centres that house wild boar. These are all open to the public.
Sow and piglet bonding
Wild boar bred in captivity become use to people and are more active during the daytime. For anyone interested in wild boar this is a great place to start learning about the beast, as I first did several years ago now. Wild boar are not a domesticated species and housing them is more about controlling a wild animal rather than looking after a domestic one. Therefore a lot of behaviour seen by wild boar in captivity mirrors the behaviour of the free-living animals.
If you do visit one of these establishments do please email us at British Wild Boar with some feedback. Particularly good centres then can be flagged up. Plus if you have any to add to the list, do please let us know.

"I recently visited Wildwood and thoroughly recommend it. The boar have a big enclosure and can be a little distant but it is great to see them in a such a natural looking environment and the staff are very helpful about advising when the best times are to see various animals. There is a lovely selection of other British aniamls too - Lesley"
