An interesting video appeared on You Tube, which we reproduce here.
It is a montage of numerous wild boar being shot on the continent, although trying to spot a clean kill amongst the myriad of shots fired off is difficult. Putting emotion asides, and looking at the video from the point of view of how do we manage the wild boar in the UK, this video lends a lot of weight to culling wild boar at bait stations - where a clean kill and safety issues are more easily controlled.

Shooting running wild boar on the continent

"I live on the continent and have been wild boar shooting for quite some years, mostly driven. The video you are showing on your website is indeed largely “how not to do it”, but it does not do justice to all good driven shooting practice that is done a countries like Germany. I don’t know where the video is shot, but it looks to me like some commercial shoot where a bunch of cowboys is “having fun” without any background or knowledge. They shoot badly, sometimes at too large a distance and quite often at the “leading sow” first, something that is absolutely not done ! If driven wild boar hunting is done in a decent way, well organized and with a strict set of rules, it is a efficient and very exiting way of shooting and controlling the population. A clean kill is always the objective, but it must be said that this sometimes is not achieved. The same counts for any way or method of shooting/hunting and as with all shooting or hunting, everything must be done to minimize the chance of wounding an animal and if this happens, finding and killing the animal as soon as possible."
