"Is there any chance of a shooting season being put on the boar in the near future? As a resposnsible hunting person myself and a game dealer We have been hunting boar for the last 10 years and I have to report on a dramatic decline to the boar population in our area, it seems all and sundry are now having a go. A lot are being shot at with 12bore shotguns and the evidence is very clear when we skin them. When we are out there are guns going off all the time and this last winter any sighting has become a very rare occurance. We feel that if things continue as they are at present within a year or two wild boar will once again become extinct in our area."

Here we will reproduce information on hunting returns that we have been sent by members of the hunting fraternity.The idea is to get a feel for the sex and ages of animals being shot. Ultimately, this type of data will provide useful in helping to better manage the species, by understanding what size and sex of animal is being culled. Obviously strict confidentiality concerning all cull returns or reports of kills is guaranteed.
